Located almost 70 miles from Key West, the remote Dry Tortugas National Park is a 100-square-mile park with seven small islands. Visit the Southernmost Point
The Southernmost Point Buoy is an anchored concrete buoy marking the southernmost point in the continental United States. The buoy was erected in 1983 by the City of Key West to establish the distance from the corner of South and Whitehead Streets to Cuba, which is just a mere 90 miles. Visitors can visit the Southernmost House mansion at the end of Duval Street and explore the lobby, which encompasses a small museum open to the public where people can find everything from presidential artifacts to Ernest Hemingway’s correspondence. The Southernmost Beach Café serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and visitors can enjoy a cocktail or fish tacos on the outdoor covered patio with a view of the Atlantic Ocean.
