About
The Key West Aquarium started construction in 1933 and opened on February 18th, 1935. It had a rocky history at first between natural disasters and changes of ownership, but by the mid-1940s, the aquarium started to see stability again. Today, this aquarium is one of the most well-loved attractions in Key West by visitors and locals alike.
The Key West Aquarium is located at 1 Whitehead Street. Tickets can be purchased either on-site or online. At the aquarium, adult admission costs $17.19, children ages 4 to 12 cost $10.74, and seniors cost $15.04. There is a slight discount when you order your tickets online ahead of time. The Key West Aquarium is open daily, 365 days a year. It’s recommended to set aside at least an hour to explore the aquarium, but your tickets allow you to enter and exit as you please for two consecutive days.

Programming
At the Key West Aquarium, guests can have an interactive experience getting face-to-face with stunning marine life. For instance, the Key West Aquarium Native Species Program is a great way to learn more about sharks, alligators, tropical fish, stingrays, sea turtles, and more!
Recently, The Key West Aquarium has also begun an Invasive Species Program. The area has been experiencing a boom in the exotic pet trade over the last few years, so the aquarium began this program to bring awareness to these invasive species, including lionfish, iguanas, and even a Burmese python!
